From webdesign to digital design of communicating objects

The WIF 2010 conferences are organised by Elopsys the competitiveness cluster. They will take place in Limoges at the ENSIL on June 4th & 5th, engineering school of Limoges. Elopsys cluster will also propose workshops on the 3rd of june about HTML5, Communication, Flash Catalyst and Device Central, IPhone development and e-marketing.

The conference program will be on four main themes:

1. As we are facing numerous information feed, what are the challenges that designers have to cope with to captivate the audience and answer its various needs? Our speakers confirmed to discuss this question:

  • Manuel Lima, interaction designer, researcher and creator of VisualComplexity
  • Jaydeep Dutta, Adobe India, Blog
  • Benoît Drouillat, president of Designers Interactifs, designer interactif, Blog
  • Sébastien Genvo, associate professor in semiotics at University of Limoges.
  • Lionel Maes, information designer, graduate from the Graphical Research School in Bruxelles (Belgium).
  • Arnaud Mercier, professor at Paul Verlaine University in Metz. Head of department of Journalism and digital medias.
  • Antoine Visonneau, ergonomist, founder of OODA, graduate from Harvard University School of Design.
  • Jean-Baptiste Levée, typographist.

2. What is mobilty today, what are its challenge, what is coming next? What is design for mobile interfaces? Our speakers confirmed to discuss this question:

  • Rémy Bourganel, interaction designer at Orange Vallée, founder and professor at @IDN, an ENSAD lab on digital mobile identity
  • Etienne Mineur, Incandescence, art director, teacher at the ENSAD Paris, blog
  • Stéphane Hugon, sociologist, head of the Research Group on Technology and Everyday-life Studies at Descartes-Sorbonne University
  • Nicole & Norbert Corsino, choreographers and researchers, N & N Corsino
  • Jacinthe Buisson, TKAAP.

3. With state-of-the-art technologies we are discovering connected devices that are more and more tactile and body-oriented. What are the perspectives for gestual interfaces? Our speakers confirmed to discuss this question:

  • Nicole Pignier, researcher at University of Limoges in semiotics, head of department of the webdesign Bachelor studies
  • Yves Rinato, Intactile Design , digital designer, teacher at ENSCI Paris
  • Rémy Bourganel, interaction designer at Orange Vallée, founder and professor at @IDN, an ENSAD lab on digital mobile identity

4. Last but not least, issues such as the Flash/HTML 5 debate, interfaces prototyping, CSS improvements, 3D and augmented reality, multi-screens will be discussed by:

  • Peter Lubbers, Kaazing, director of training , main author of Pro HTML5 Programming
  • Dave Shea, webdesigner, cowriter with Molly Holzshlag of Zen CSS
  • Michael Chaize, Adobe
  • Yann Chevalier, BAAO, formateur Flex, Adobe Air
  • Christophe Bernard,la Haute Société, Richmedia and 3D on the web
  • Hervé Mischler, creative director at Dailymotion.

There will also be interventions on web business models based on case studies and examples discussed by Manuel Diaz, CEO of Groupe Reflect, and Franck Confino, CEO of Adverbia.
